This book fills this gap by offering to Sri Lankan readers a large quantity of singhalese poetry in modern day Sinhala, which can easily be read and enjoyed without any preparation.

The second chapter of the book, called "PiIlima Talawa", is a passionate plea for a radical reversal of the view according to which Sri Lanka's past and present has been seen until now.

The author of the book is a German national, born in 1958, fluent in Sinhala and Tamil and residing in Sri Lanka for about 30 years by now. He has already published several German books in his native Germany. This book, in which he has brought into play his long experience as a German language author, is his first publication in Sinhala.
